North Devon Plus Awards Winners

On Friday 28th November at Castle Hill Estate in Filleigh they announced the best of the best in North Devon Business through the North Devon Plus Awards.

Myself and Bob were blown away when we were announced as the best Self Catering Accommodation in North Devon 2008. Later in the evening we won the award for Commitment to the environment (all businesses in North Devon)

Awards Update

On Thursday evening we attended the DEBI (Devon Environmental Business Initative) at Exeter Met office. We were shortlisted in the sustainable tourism category to 4 and unfortunately were beat to the 1st by Paignton Zoo (somewhat bigger than us!). Congratulations to Paignton Zoo. We will be back next year - fingers crossed and watch this space.

We were shortlisted in October from 300 self catering establishments in the South West to make the last 6 and the final in the Excellence Awards.

Millbrook Annual Fireworks - Late Availability!

Corncott is available for this Saturday and Sunday for our annual fireworks party (Saturday 8th November) due to a cancellation. It's a big event with the fireworks being held around the lake. On Saturday evening we have a big party including hot pork sandwiches and alcohol in the main house, finished off by a big fireworks display. Last year we had over 120 people attend the fireworks (and have been told its far better than any seen elsewhere!).

If you would like to come along we are offering Saturday and Sunday evening at £200 for 2 persons in Corncott or £240 for 3 persons. If you would like to stay extra nights the cost if £50. Please call me if you are interested 0800 298 22 88

Millbrook Welcomes New Baby Alpaca

Over 4 weeks late Daisy gave birth to a boy on Friday 24th October. He is white with a black spot - just like his mum and originally tried to suckle from the Bronze giraffes!

He is looking forward to a playmate and is hoping that Snowflake will have her baby soon!

Secret Garden Available for New Year

The Secret Garden is open from the 27th December until 14th January.
New Year is a minimum 4 nights about £150 per night

PV Panels and Water Turbines!

The weather has finally changed and its been glorious at Millbrook for over 12 days! The stream is now low and we are putting in the water turbine

We are also in the process of putting a 1 kw array of pv panels on the roof of Lakeview

The Den (above) is starting to take shape, situated on the top lawn, stage 2 has now started. When finished the Den will be a 15m2 room with a real open fire, comfy chairs and music for guests to use as they like. We see this building being used mostly in the evening where guests would like to chill out with an open fire, bottle of wine and a book.
